Lakeland Retail Stores

Mellor Architects have been responsible for many of Lakeland’s  retail stores throughout the UK. At present, this numbers 60 with the scope ranging from stores in new retail developments, in traditional high street settings as well as the refitting of existing key Lakeland stores.

Most of Lakeland’s stores can be found in high street locations and can involve work to listed buildings in conservation areas of important historic towns and cities including York, Chester, Edinburgh, Windsor, Harrogate and Stratford-upon-Avon.

Other stores have been in new high profile retail developments such as Westfield Stratford City shopping centre, adjacent to the 2012 Olympic Park.

Mellor Architects work with an extended team on each development which typically comprises Lakeland’s in-house staff, their appointed retail design consultant, the property owner and their advisors, contractors and sub-contractors and local authorities.

This multi-agency approach ensures the project is kept on-track, meets the client’s requirements and has all necessary planning and building regulations approval.

With retail projects time is of the essence and Mellor Architect’s work – from property appraisal to project completion – is often extremely compressed and focused, ensuring the business can begin trading as soon as possible.
