Take-over of neighbouring Kendal-based practice:
Mellor Architects has successfully completed the take-over of Kendal based practice Hanson Walford Marston - architects and designers.
The practice will trade separately under the name of Hanson Marston Mellor and continue to work for existing clients including major high street, web and mail-order retailer Lakeland. Projects for Lakeland include the company's main warehouse in Kendal, their Company Headquarters and flagship store in Windermere and over 40 high streets shops nationwide.
Recent and current work includes new high street stores in Cardiff, Liverpool, Chelmsford, Kingston-upon-Thames, Witney, Durham, Northallerton and Beverley.

New Preston office:
We are delighted to announce the relocation of our Preston office to Cable Court, Pittman Way, Preston..... a development designed by the practice.
This is the first time in the history of the practice that we have occupied one of our own buildings..........we expect some 'feedback' from staff and clients alike.

Darzi Clinic, Cleator Moor:
Mellor Architects are delighted to have been selected as architects for the new
£4 million 'Darzi' clinic at Cleator Moor, Cumbria, having been previously appointed to the Express LIFT Investment Limited supply chain panel.
The project, along with a similar development in Cockermouth, is the first phase of a 10 year, £450 million programme of work to redevelop Cumbria's ageing community hospitals and to deliver a range of other health facilities through eLIFT Cumbria Limited a public-private partnership specifically created for the programme.
Design work is well progressed, a planning application has been submitted and construction is planned to start in the first quarter of 2011.
Mellor Architects are pleased to have been appointed as architects on the project to extend and extensively remodel the existing Emergency Department at Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The proposal provides increased space for clinical treatment, facilities which provide for improved patient privacy and dignity, new IT and telemedicine facilities and increased security.
The £1.7 million project is due to start on site in Summer 2010 and be completed by the spring of 2011.
The department will need to be kept fully operational throughout the construction phase.
Following successful completion of the original kitchen garden development at Axwell Hall, Blaydon, design work has now started on the creation of a new courtyard development with the creation of a stable-inspired project adjacent to the main hall.
The project will provide a range of dwelling types ranging from 2 bedroom apartments to 3 bedroom houses with garden and 3 bedroom houses with roof gardens.
